I picked up tennis in 2019 and have been an enthusiastic amateur ever since. It's one of my favorite ways to unwind. There is nothing quite as satisfying as hitting a powerful forehand that paints the line or, on a good day, a clean backhand. I have also come to enjoy watching tennis matches, with Iga Świątek and Karolína Muchová among my current favorite players.
I love being adventurous in the kitchen. As an operations researcher, I naturally approach cooking as a multi-objective optimization problem. I try to balance nutrient and time constraints, schedule parallel tasks, and experiment with diverse cuisines and cooking techniques to find the Pareto frontier of effort and taste. When not cooking, my husband and I enjoy exploring Toronto’s vibrant restaurant scene and discovering food from around the world when we travel.
I grew up in Macheng (麻城), a beautiful city in central China, famous for its azalea blossoms. I later attended Wuhan No. 2 High School, where my love for rigorous problem-solving was first ignited through Math Olympiad training, eventually leading me to my undergrad in math at USTC, then Berkeley, and now to UofT.
Rocky brings countless small happy moments to our daily life. Rocky is exceptionally sweet, genuinely funny, incredibly soft, and always comforting to hug. Born in February 2014 in Florida, he spent his early years as a working Ragdoll "cat dad" at a cattery in northern California. I adopted him in April 2021, shortly after his official retirement.
